Protestantism in Qatar

Protestants comprise less than 1% of the population of Qatar.[1] There is some limitation of the religious liberty of Christians. [2] The constitution provides for religious liberty.[3] Proselytizing by non-Muslims is prohibited by law.[3] No foreign missionary groups operate openly in the country.[3] Religious groups must register with the Government for legal recognition.[3] Christians are subject to the Sharia. [3] Christian religious literature in English is available in bookstores.[4] In 2006 the first building of a church in 14 centuries was started.[4] It is built in Doha.[5] It includes a conference center and meeting rooms.[5] Publication, import and distribution of Christian religious literature is banned.[6]
